The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has today (Friday, August 2nd 2024) announced €16.5 million to deliver 185 community projects across the country under the Community Recognition Fund 2024
The Community Recognition Fund aims to support the development of community infrastructure and facilities for the entire community in recognition of the contribution being made by communities across the country in welcoming and hosting significant numbers of arrivals from Ukraine and other countries
Tipperary County Council put forward 18 projects of which 16 were successful. Funding totalling €987,845 was announced for Tipperary.
Among the projects being funded in Co Tipperary are Roscrea Scouts, White Memorial Theatre Clonmel, St. Nicholas Boxing Club Carrick-on-Suir, Nenagh Éire Óg Hurling& Football Club and Rosanna Tennis Club in Tipperary Town. For the full list of all projects funded, see here
This major investment will support a diverse range of projects such as upgrades to sports facilities, community centres, parks, walking tracks, theaters and community gardens
Ms Sinead Carr Chief Executive of Tipperary County Council welcomed the funding saying ‘‘Funding such as this is incredibly important for our community groups and sports clubs in Tipperary. It enables them to continue providing high quality facilities and services that are the vital for communities to thrive”
Speaking at the announcement Minister Humphries said “The projects are diverse in nature – demonstrating the fact that communities have different needs. This investment is just the first of a number of tranches that will be announced under the Community Recognition Fund over the coming months. This is about giving back and saying ‘thank you’ to communities for what they do week-in, week-out”
