Business Improvement District Consultation

You can comment on or object to a local authority about its proposal to establish a Business Improvement District (BID). A BID is a defined area within which businesses are required to pay an additional rate levy in order to fund projects within the district's boundaries.

Business Improvement District Scheme

Local authorities may support proposals from ratepayers for a programme of projects, services and works for a proposed Business Improvement District. These would be in addition to those provided by the local authority and would be carried out for the benefit of the businesses operating in the district. Businesses would pay an additional rate levy to fund these projects and services.

Local Enterprise Offices, together with relevant sponsors, may support the development of the artisan food industry by helping early stage food businesses to pitch their business to the retail sector, get expert feedback and advice, avail of mentoring and trial their product in a local shop.

Food Starter Business Programme

Local Enterprise Offices may run short programmes to give those with a food idea or at the early start up stage a basic understanding of what is involved in setting up a food or drink manufacturing business.

Fuelling Ambition Steps to Success Roadshow

Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs), together with Enterprise Ireland, Network Ireland and the Entrepreneurs Academy, run a nationwide roadshow to encourage and support female entrepreneurs. It does this by showcasing Irish business women who are clients of Enterprise Ireland or the LEO.
