Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District wishes to advise that the River Ara Walkway in Tipperary Town is open to the public from today, 22nd December, 2022. Further works on the boardwalk, playground, planting and landscaping will be completed early in the new year.

The first stage of the project involved the installation of a new pedestrian bridge to provide access to a new walkway, approximately one kilometre in length, adjacent to the River Ara and connecting to the existing path near Glenview.

When fully complete this riverside park will not only provide an additional recreational and social amenity for the public but will also enhanced biodiversity with development of an off-stream wetlands, in-stream rubble mats and deflectors for aquatic life and extensive planting of native trees and flowers.

The project has been supported under the Rural Regeneration Development Fund (RRDF), the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) and funding also provided by Tipperary County Council.
