Launch of the Local Econmomic and Community Plan for Co Tipperary

The Local Economic Community Plan (LECP)  Framework and Initial Implementation Plan for Tipperary was launched at the Age Friendly Expo event which was held at the TUS Campus Thurles on June 20th. 

Speaking at the event Charles Stanley Smith -Chairperson of the LECP Advisory group thanked all involved saying that the 'process through which the LECP  was derived has harnessed much good will, expertise and commitment. The document gives effect to many voices and as a committee, we are strongly committed to driving and supporting its full implementation over the next five  years'

Ciaran Lynch a member of the advisory group and former Development Manager of LIT noted that this strategy positions Tipperary as an economic driver for the southern Region to improve prospects for our citizens yet enshrines principles of quality of life, the enhancement of an equitable and diverse society, and safeguarding our natural and built environment.’ Mr Lynch went onto say that this Framework  and Implementation  Plan 2024-2025  plan reinforces Tipperary LCDCs commitment to creating a sustainable response to the challenges and opportunities posed by the changing population which it serves. The actions proposed will ensure that services meet the needs of our diverse population and that services are accessible to all our citizens.

Margo Hayes of the Economic Community and Rural Development section of Tipperary County Council thanked all the agencies and organisations who participated in the consultation processes, the members of the Local Community Development Committee and the members of the Economic Strategic Policy, the Public Participation Network who supported the process through ensuring that the voice for all communities were represented and her fellow members of the LECP Advisory Committee particularly.

We look forward to working together over the next five years to connect people and communities ensuring a sense of belonging in Tipperary for all our citizens.
