Extension of Duration of a Planning Permission

Under Section 42 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), in certain circumstances, it may be possible to extend the appropriate period of a grant of permission. An application for such an extension must be made under this section of the Act.

Please note recent legislative changes have altered the criteria with respect to the assessment of Section 42 Extension of Durations. There are currently two different methods of extending the duration. You are advised to familiarise yourself with the criteria for each in advance of any application.
