Adopted Policy for Disabled Parking Bays in Residential Areas

It is recognised that for many disabled people an adapted vehicle is
the only fully accessible form of transport and a way of maintaining
their independence. The Local Authority receives numerous
requests to install disabled parking spaces in the vicinity of people’s
homes.

The intent of this policy document is to provide a standard and
consistent approach to the assessment of these requests.
This policy seeks to provide a balance between the provision of
disabled parking bays in residential areas, consultation with
neighbouring properties/businesses, and the level of information
required by the local authority to enable it to make a decision.
